Lyme Disease in Germany: The Worst May Yet to Come

Early May case count numbers for Lyme Disease in Germany were above the highs forecast by Ascel Bio’s Germany Infectious Disease Forecast StationTM.  The May numbers, the latest available in early July due to certain reporting lags, were concerning to Ascel Bio bio-meteorologists because the numbers seen typically don’t occur until well into the seasonal peak season in Germany of July-August.   This is a signal of the potential for a bad Lyme Disease season in Germany, and merits a watch for tick-borne diseases.  It is useful for residents and visitors to Germany to learn how to remove a tick and to purchase tick repellant.
