The number of new cases of Zika in Brazil is dependent on the number of infections in 2015, as infection likely leads to short-term immunity. Beyond Brazil, many other countries in South and Central America are being hit with a wave of Zika infections that may potentially lead to an increase in microcephaly in ~6 months should the linkages be confirmed. Preventative health guidelines from the WHO, PAHO, and national health authorities should be followed.
